Do you feel helpless with your health?
I wanted to connect with you because I’ve been talking to a lot of women lately who are really frustrated with their health.
They feel tired, exhausted, depleted.
They are carrying extra weight- and it impacts how they feel in their bodies, their energy, their joints, their ability to move- not to mention their self-image and confidence levels.
They are struggling to get pregnant, and they feel like a failure as a woman.
They are facing a diagnosis that has them feeling unsure, even scared.
They feel anxious, stressed, despite being on anti-anxiety medication.
They feel guilty about not only what they’re feeding themselves, but their kids and their families.
Yet they keep pushing through, keep smiling and saying “good” or “fine” when friends ask how they are, keeping up the facade, when underneath it all they feel frustrated, confused, overwhelmed.
The worst part is, they have no idea what to do to change it- or if they even can.
They feel helpless and powerless when it comes to their bodies and their health.
Is this woman you? The first thing I want you to know is that you’re not alone.
But more importantly, I want you to know that you are not helpless or powerless when it comes to your body and your health.
In fact, what I think you may be missing is that you probably don’t realize how powerful you are.
You’ve been taught from a very young age that if you aren’t feeling well, or you’re “sick”, that something is wrong with you and it needs to be fixed.
The truth is the exact opposite.
When you aren’t feeling well, or something’s going on with your body, it doesn’t mean there is something wrong with your body- it is simply information, a message of sorts, your body’s way of letting you know that what you’re doing isn’t working, and something needs to change.
Your body knows exactly what it’s doing, and it is designed to let you know when something needs to change- so your body is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.
The first question is, are you listening?
And the next question is, are you willing to do what it takes to answer what your body is asking for?
That could be as simple as getting more sleep, pulling out problem foods, or adding meditation or movement to your daily routine- not always easy, but simple:)
Or, it could require that you really look at things like establishing healthy boundaries at home or work, taking a stand for how you really feel, or being willing to look at and address an unhealthy relationship.
Sometimes simple, sometimes a bit more complex, but usually not easy.
However, this is where you are anything but helpless.
Being willing to step up to the plate and say “YES!” to doing what your body is asking for is your path to shifting it all- and in doing so, you are anything but powerless.
So this week, I invite you to listen to your body and find one step you CAN tweak or change, or even look at, that will answer your body’s call.
Is that step sleeping an extra 15 minutes at night?
Waking up 10 minutes earlier to meditate in the morning?
Switching from sweets at night to soothing herbal tea for a week?
Finding or adding more pleasure in your day-to-day?
Or is it having a difficult conversation, speaking your truth, or asking for support?
Remember, you are anything but helpless or powerless.
And if you truly have no idea where to begin, or what your body is asking for, start by finding a resource that resonates with you and receive the support you require.
It can be life-changing.
To your best health!
Enjoy!
